If you have Microsoft Office 2010 installed in your PC, you will notice a Firefox plugin Microsoft Office 2010. This plugin allows users to directly open office documents from web apps to appropriate Microsoft Office desktop program.
With office 2010, Microsoft also started offering Web Apps. The Office Web Apps includes free online versions of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft OneNote.
Microsoft Office 2010 installs plugin in Firebox web browser which allows documents to be opened directly from web browser into the appropriate Office desktop application.
WcPlugin.exe file comes bundled with Office 2010 but if you have older version of Office, you have to download this file separately from Microsoft website. This plugin is automatically added in your PC when you install MS office.
How to Update Microsoft Office Plugin to Current Version.
This plugin is part of Office suite so this plugin cannot be updated manually. Users will need to update their office suite either by downloading updates from Microsoft site or using Windows Update feature.
Note- Firefox can not detects version of this plugin so it will show out dated or unknown even if you have latest version installed in you PC.
How to uninstall plugin?–
- Go to Start menu > Settings >Control Panel.
- Under Programs click Uninstall Programs.
- check Office Web Apps Browser Plugin, and then click Uninstall.
